Brewhouse Yard Weekend Volunteer

Opportunity image

Are you enthusiastic about heritage, and enjoy working with, and talking to people. Are confident in taking responsibility for a small museum site? Can you spare a Saturday or Sunday most weeks? If so, read on! We are looking for people to help at Brewhouse Yard, a unique social history museum which reflects Nottingham’s industrial and rebellious past. Our volunteers are the friendly faces who welcome and engage visitors, answering their questions, and revealing the history and stories of Brewhouse Yard: Life beneath Castle Rock. This is an opportunity to volunteer in a truly unique social history museum which tells the stories of some of the people who lived on this site and explores its rich history, especially in relation to the textiles trade. There have been buildings on this two-acre site since at least 1217 when it was on the banks of the River Leen. Among those residing in Brewhouse Yard were brewing workers, framework knitters, tailors, clock-workers, shearmen and dyers. We are open Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holiday Mondays, and every day in the school holidays. There will also be additional weekdays for educational tours. Hours are 11am – 4pm. When applying for this role make sure you read all of the information below and address the skills required for this role in your application, as well as telling us why you'd love to volunteer with us!
