Tree Guardian (Tiny Forest Tree Guardian)

Opportunity image

Do you want to help protect newly planted trees in your local area? We are looking for a band of volunteers across the city who can not only look after newly planted trees, including weeding around the trees, litter picking and watering them during hot weather but also report damage to fencing and furniture at sites.

You don’t need any professional qualifications or experience in tree management just a couple of spare hours and a passion for trees. There are numerous locations across the City where saplings have been planted and need caring for including; • Woodthorpe Grange Park • High Wood Cemetery • Southglade Park (external charity - see below for details) • Bulwell Forest (external charity - see below for details) • Bulwell Hall Park (external charity - see below for details) • Bilborough Park • King George V Park

We will be holding virtual introduction sessions via Zoom on the below dates to go over tasks and introduce you to other tree guardians virtually (you do not need to attend all dates);

  • 10th February 6.30-7.30pm

  • 23rd February 12.30-1.30pm

  • 14th March 10-11am

You will not be required to visit all sites for volunteering but can pick your favourite space or your local park.

Further sites may be added during the tree planting season (October to March).

Watering to be undertaken between March and September.

Earthwatch (earthwatch.org.uk) are coordinating volunteers for Southglade, Bulwell Forest and Bulwell Hall but get in touch if you are interested in these sites and we will send your their details for further information.
