Community Gardener, Highfields Park (Highfields Gardening Volunteer)

As one of our Community Gardeners you will work closely with the gardeners and Park Ranger at Highfields Park to restore and maintain the Japanese garden surrounding the cascade.

Highfields park has always been significant for its rich plant collection, from wonderful natives to beautiful exotics. The cascades and stepping stones are representative of the cultural feel of the whole park and a key focal point for visitors.

We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to make our Japanese garden more beautiful and blooming. This could include; • Hand weeding shrub and floral areas • Preparing the ground for planting • Planting new bedding plants • Deadheading flowers as necessary • Staking plants as necessary • Watering plants • Edging of lawned areas • Cleaning of signage • Creating habitat piles and biodiversity features

Sessions on site will start January 2022
