As one of our Conservation Volunteers you will be working closely with our Ranger Team to create and maintain different habitats across our parks and open spaces for wildlife.

There are a wide range of activities and tasks throughout the year depending on the season, summer tasks can include controlling invasive species such as Himalayan Balsam, planting or cutting wildflower meadows to make hay and in winter tasks can include hedge planting, coppicing trees. Other tasks can include maintaining furniture such as benches, fences and information points.

Our parks and open spaces have been a lifeline to residents during lockdown, to get out of their homes, exercise and enjoy the benefits that being in nature has for health and wellbeing. We need your help to create and manage great spaces for wildlife.

We hold both regular and ad-hoc/roaming sessions around the city. Regular sessions include;

  • First Thursday of each month at Colwick Country Park
  • Second Tuesday of each month at Broxtowe Country Park
  • Second Thursday of each month at Sellers Wood Nature Reserve
  • Monthly Wednesdays at Beeston Sidings
  • Monthly Thursdays at Stanton Pond and Pasture (known as Babbington Tip, Bulwell)
  • Third Saturday of the month across various sites in partnership with the City Local Group

Ad-hoc or roaming sessions occur at different sites and are dependant on season.
